~~Once again do I behold these steep and lofty cliffs,
Which on a wild secluded scene impress
Thoughts of more deep seclusion; and connect
The landscape with the quiet of the sky.

William Wordsworth

About the Painter:

My greatest hope as a painter is to tell a story — of the pastoral and secluded places we cherish and return to, and of how these places lead us toward deeper contemplation, and nurture our souls.    Painting is for me a devotion of love for these places and an attempt to capture their essence with some truth and clarity.

The artists and teachers who have most influenced my painting include Ron Boehmer, Nancy Bass, Rick Weaver, Frank Hobbs, Edgar Payne, John Carlson, William Langston Lathrop, George Inness, Alfred Sisley, Camille Pissarro, and many others.

Awards and showings include Third Place in 2016 and Honorable Mention in 2017 at the Queen City Plein Air Festival, “Best Traditional Landscape” in the 2017 Bath County Art Association Art Show, and Best Old Farm Painting in the 2019 Bath County Art Association Show.   Landscape paintings have appeared in The Nelson Gallery in Lexington, VA, The Shenandoah Valley Art Association, Saint Anne’s – Belfield School, Ebb and Flow Gallery in Faber, VA, Hot Cakes in Charlottesville, VA, Appalachian Piece Works in Staunton, VA, Carpe Diem Gallery and Citi Space in Charlottesville, VA and Annie Gould Gallery in Gordonsville, VA.

Future events and exhibits include the Queen City Plein Air Festival in April of 2020 (Postponed) and McIntire Art Gallery at The University of Virginia, in March of 2022.
